I got a new table for FREE

The dining room is complete .

Ok well it feels like it was free , I love the cream colour of my harvest table and I think this is one of the nicest harvest tables out there , it has such pretty legs , not to bulky , but just right.
I have been thinking it blends a little too much with the trim work, and that the dining rooms I am drawn to ALWAYS have dark painted or very dark stained wood finishes . I have been thinking long and hard , every time I sit in the front parlor {I'm going to call it that from now on , that is what it said on the floor plans , it just sounds fancy, I think it's another word for small} to watch tv I look and imagine it dark .
My boredom made me do it , thank you boredom !
I did all the things that needed doing , laundry , dishes ,toilets , floors etc and there I was with a day to fill and my itch for new projects needing to be scratched , and I am so happy with the result , look it just stands so proud , like look at me and my pretty legs , doesn't it?
What do you think am I off my rocker???

You stripped it and finished it all in one day???? You have magical powers!

It looks great.

No stripping , just three coats of paint , took 1 hour 45 minutes .
Now what .

I am truly impressed! I love these kinds of tables with the one side that has the bench seating. :)

p.s. parlour or US parlor
Noun
1. Old-fashioned a living room for receiving visitors, a room that is kept tidy.

***My Aunt always referred to her livingroom as the parlor...

I think it looks great. And hides so many things and so easy to touch up if needed.

Much, much nicer... John always gets orders for dark or black furniture, only the odd one for white. I just think things look more important darker!! Hope you are well, oh by the way, where did you get your crown??

The table looks great, I was just thinking the same thing with my table. How did you do it, just latex paint or did you use wood stain (strip and stain). Also, if it is paint, what color did you use? Sorry about all the questions, I'm a silent fan of your blog and you give me inspiration!!

I also would love to know the paint color!! It looks great. Your sense of style is awsome. Did you put any protective coating on top of the black paint?

Looks great nice job, do you think you should change the fabric on the chairs to bring in some black ?

I see that you said that you didn't stripe it. I am trying to do the same thing with my light wood dining table, but when I tried to paint over it it didn't adhere. Any pointers on how I can paint it and avoid striping it?

Oh jeez. I also meant to say that it is absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE it in the space.

Love the mix of colors! Also love the nail head trim. Very cool! I am on the hunt for some benches, or something that needs to be a bench in another life. My dining table is long and narrow and really calls for benches, not chairs. The view is blocked by the side chairs, so I am on the hunt for some benches to redo.

Great table! I made one very much like it a few years ago and we gather round it for every meal!

Funny, we were just painting a big square table yesterday. Bright Blue...for outside!

I have a brand new blog and I'm just roaming around trying to find the "house" and "design" people.

I enjoyed your blog!

It looks fabulous! I love the dark contrast w/ the white chairs and bench, wonderful idea. So, glad I stopped by.

Love it! And I love the mix. I'm never brave enough to dramatically change a piece of furniture.
