The counter is coming.

The counter is coming the counter is coming.I am so excited.
I have added all new v-groove and two brackets for added detail , they too will be painted blue.
The brackets are from IKEA and the blue is Gentle Tide by glidden paints.

Moe likes to be in the pictures .

I pulled off the plank counter to make some changes and to add brackets for the much heavier butch block counters.

Opening things up .

Ok , we have way too much cereal that doesn't get eaten.

Looking good! I have a closet that needs to be painted inside and I planned to paint it blue. I'm notorious for picking out bad paint colors so I think I'll try yours. I love the way it looks in your house. Thanks for sharing!

Wow what a difference already. I too am looking forward to seeing the finished product. Question regarding the paint: Is it a pale, faint color? Hard to tell on the computer.

I had a ton of half-eaten boxes of cereal, my solution was to by 2 cereal dispensers from the container store online. Now those super cute cereal dispensers set out and when one or both are empty I get new. Seems to work and way less waste, the cereal also stays very fresh. I have since seen other less expensive variations of these dispensers.

Just found your blog and I love it! Would you mind explaining what a V-groove is? is it the wood boards that look like wider bead board on your island? how did you put it together? Sorry if this is so elementary, I am hoping to put something like that up in my sons room.
Thanks!

I didn't realize you were going to do so much to your island. I thought the beadboard and new counter were it. I really like the brackets - it's going to look amazing with the wood counter. I"m looking forward to seeing it complete which, knowing you, will be soon.

Looking great already. I guess you can always use the plank top for your workroom.

I love the v-groove and need some, would you please let me know where you bought it, 4 feet or 8 feet sheets? Is this the same v groove you used on your ceilings?

I picked up some of those brackets from IKEA too. I put open shelves on our kitchen wall, now I just need to paint it all.

Back to painting my hobby room now.

All that cereal makes me think I'm looking at my kitchen. I made my own kitchen island also, but I don't live close enough to Ikea (4 hours) to get the butcher block so I used clearance marble tile. Can't wait to see the results.

Can't wait to see the finished product. I am sure it will look great. We recently renovated our kitchen with the IKEA bb countertops. http://kleypas.blogspot.com/2009/06/countertops.html

I'm so glad I read this! I have a dresser that we are using as an island and I am going to use butcher block from IKEA, but today I started thinking about using pine boards, and now that I know about crumbs and dust and dirt I will not do it. Stick to my original plan! I love your kitchen it looks so great!

And Moe! What a cutie - we have two Boston's. Rosie and Millie.

Does Moe get under the covers at night?????
