Can we talk about Target...

Please consider signing this Petition to try and save Target Canada  When I heard the terrible news about Targets decision to close all their Canadian stores I honestly thought it was just a rumor...that couldn't be true...Target is literally my favorite store as well as one of my daughters favorite. I personally have only visited the US stores twice and didn't love it (probably just because you can't get a real sense of Target in a once in a while visit) but the Canadian stores were just so wonderful it was and has been my happy place...I was at Target last night getting some lip butters my daughters can get anywhere but at Target and I told our cashier about the petition and her face lit up...17,000 plus employees are going to be out of work if something isn't done...

People really need to drop the its more expensive than in the states excuse...WE ALWAYS PAY MORE, WE PAY MORE ...we pay more at Pottery Barn, Crate and Barrel, Home Depot, Walmart, PINK, American Eagle.....and so on , we pay more that's not a good excuse...you may have guessed it upsets me...it sucks but its our reality you can thank our dollar.

I have been able to find great products from the beginning....things I love about Target...selection of course so much better than anywhere else, clean bright stores and always friendly staff. I get really frustrated when I hear people say they prices are high...ON WHAT...? I have found nothing but great prices deals and sales all along. Never will one store beat every other all the time that is just a fact.
But overall we found imense selection and great value and insane clearance deals...just the other day I got this blazer for $11 I have also bought a dress for $10 in the past, shoes for under $30... how are those not deals?

Threshold products win in style quality and price everytime...

This designer table which was under $100 at only $79 but went down to $63 on sale...

Always great seasonal items, that bottle opener was under $2....
Totally unique and cute frame was $7
This gorgeous tray was on clearance I looked forever for a nice tray and the stylish shaker for $10
 Always cute affordable art
Great little gift boxes like this cookie box a bunch of them for $4
Adorable dog costumes this was .97 cents
 Chalkboard runner
Premium Paper towels on sale for $5.99 thats a deal no one will deny
The complaint of empty shelves is an old one...

Where can you find stylish designer knobs 10 for $23..thats savings

For me Target has been a great store with amazing stock and employees if they go we are left with no other options, don't say Walmart you will never find anything cute for your house there... not to mention the miserable staff and the filthy stores I avoid that place at all costs.
To say I am am upset is an understatement....I am not alone. I know endless women who love Target women who appreciate style and quality and value...
We are hopeful somehow Target will reconsider and keep a few stores open, restructure and at the very least open up online shopping to Canada, how can you make us love you and then take it away.
I don't cross border shop personally, how can you first of all expect to find what you want in one trip, it takes me three hours to get to a US Target and I like to spend our money supporting Canadian jobs. Use your voice...

So I hope you will join me and sign this petition now and pass it on... just letting Target go with out sharing our upset would be a true shame...

Target Love and the perfect carrot cake

I am a HUGE fan of Target here in Canada...it was a very long wait for us to get Target stores here and it was well worth the wait. I have nothing but positive things to say about my shopping experiences at Target, the brands the selection and the value offered are what keeps going back time and time again.
My two daughters are also big Target fans...you will find us there often browsing for finds and deals and enjoying a Starbuck's while we are at it.
When Target heard about my love and support of Target they reached out and shipped me a gift pack which included gift cards for my two daughters and one for myself as well as fab umbrella, tumbler and super sturdy canvas bag, I ready to go and represent for Target.
During this back to school season (boo to back to school !!!) Target has been suprising guests with gift cards and covering purchases in store...how amazing right!
Cute photo of our tiny dog with my new BIG rocking umbrella.PS I don't believe in bad luck so don't fret about the open umbrella, where did that superstition come from anyway...?
It is my Mom's birthday today and we got together yesterday to celebrate with one of my brother's and his wife, it was the perfect summer weather day, so grateful for that.
I made a cake from scratch....I generally don't make cakes from scratch with the exception of this cake....CARROT CAKE.
I have been using this recipe for about 13 years or so, I found the recipe from Martha Stewart magazine in a baby edition. It has lemon and lemon zest and I think this really makes all the difference in this recipe. I skip the nuts as we have some nut allergies in our family.
The recipe is here if you want to give it a try....Carrot cake
It's light and moist every time, I used store bought cream cheese frosting but home made is better, the store bought stuff was way too sweet.....I may have a left over slice for breakfast on this last day of summer break....my daughter Mason is starting back to 11th grade tomorrow morning.....why must summer end?

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day,
Chris

Total love for Target my Haul

I know we all wanted to get Target here in Canada for a long time I know I sure did. I`m not one to take cross border shopping trips I shop locally call me old fashioned.
I was pleasantly surprised when Target opened as there was so much to love. I have heard a lot of grumbling and complaining going around from my fellow Canadians that Target here is not like in the US, well we all knew it wouldn`t be exactly the same right. I suppose it all depends on what your looking for. Because I was looking for well priced design, decor and home items which is exactly what I found. From dishes to sheets to small furniture I found so much style and selection which is just what I was looking and hoping for. I thought I would share with you some of the great items I have picked up since Target opened.
I will start with my min bar in the dining room , this spot is new since I found this cute tray at Target I loved the wood handles and bronze finish.
I am really excited to try out my new shaker for Christmas , isn`t it the cutest...I know I love it and $14
I love kosher salt and I had my eye on this little salt cellar for a while , actually I had put it in my cart on a previous shopping trip but when I got home I was sad to find that is must have not made it out of the cart , but luckily I went back and made sure to bring it home for $3.49 well actually $2.09 is what it rang up as. That is something I just love about Target when you select an clearance item and at the cash it rings up even lower than you had expected. Target prices are great but the sales are amazing and the clearance items are superb.
Another fabulous clearance score a ceramic rolling pin with a vintage design.

I had to special order two of these wall mount bottle openers for our kitchen back a couple of years ago , so I was pleased to see they had a bronze one with their seasonal bar ware I am going to gift that.
I went yesterday to see the selection of holiday gift wrapping and I found these adorable gift boxes for $2.00 I cleared them out.
Adorable bags on sale for $1.00 these beat dollar stores bags any day.
I know it`s not a good pic but a while back I spotted this cute feather art piece it was perfect for our entry just what I was looking for and only $19
And don`t forget about the perfect lanterns I found for my living room on sale...good things come to those who wait
And last but not least my long awaited duvet cover.

Well there you have it ...my Target haul It`s not hard to see why I love Target Canada....you will too if you give it a chance and if you don`t like the one near you it may be because of it`s location so check neighboring cities I promise you`ll thank me later.... so what are your favorite purchases from Target Canada.

This was and is not a sponsored post these are my experiences and opinions.

A duvet cover decision...finally

I really need to get wood floors in this room but the main floor is my first priority. Still so much to do in this house, baby steps.
I finally found a duvet cover worth buying. I have been looking for a duvet cover since we moved into this house and upgraded to a king sized bed. I did have a duvet cover a plain and simple grey duvet cover but I did want and have been looking for a duvet cover with some pizzazz. It took nearly two years to find it but now I just love it. It is great to add a little warmth with all the cold weather upon us. I found it at my new favorite store Target Canada. It is a Threshold product , how much do you love the Threshold stuff , it may become a problem I like it all so much. The duvet set I bought is called Suzani and it was on sale at $59 so it was a win win.
I did not realize it had a second pattern on the inside , that side is a lovely sheet quality and the top pattern is a heavy fabric that looks and feels much like linen. I am thoroughly impressed with the quality. The dark gray sheet is from the PC collection from the Superstore our local grocery store. The orange pillow cases are also from Target so nice and soft , I love good basics.

Maybe this will encourage me to finally choose a paint color for my walls. I think I am going to paint the walls the same color as the bathroom a barely sky glass blue , kinda grey blue it works well with blues and greys and even seafoam. Maybe the blue tables will become black, I am still deciding.
My cousin and I and my great friend went to a taping of the Steven and Chris show last week, that is always a good fun time. Ok seriously my beautiful tall blonde cousin Sheri is pregnant with her fourth baby here , you can't even tell, look at those legs, ok don't compare them to mine, seriously stop looking... I didn't get those genes.....whine!!!! moving on.
Here is a whole lot of cuteness for you , isn't he cute resting his head on my knees hoping I will share my snack....he is so charming.
