A lick of paint

I couldn't pass up this slate chalkboard for our back deck , it was a bargain and I have always wanted one...
I think the table base turned out great in black , its coming together just in time for good weather .

More simple table shots

Here is my back deck in the morning , it is wonderful and sunny , great spot for coffee or a nice lunch .

I wanted to show you a close-up of the frame , I used these pine legs and 2x4's to build the frame for my former island top , so really this cost me not a dime, I am hoping to get it painted very soon .
There is a lot of work to be done out back , the pergola , I want to remove the siding from the fireplace back and install shingles and stain them soft grey as I did in the front last year, and get a new larger wall light , and I just can't decide if I should stain the deck grey and paint the pergola white ?? what are your thoughts? the other option is to go dark grey??I am torn

I was ambitious today , I built a dining table for the deck , my friend Lisa gave me the legs to her old table , they were perfect chunky legs to build my outdoor table.
My plans are to buy or make a simple bench for the one side to maximize seating , and to paint the chairs and table legs in a fresh coat of black.
I went on a big walk with my dog today and I saw a beaver for the first time ever , it was so cute , our neighborhood has three man made ponds for rain water basins , the city does a great job of making them look natural and the wildlife loves them, I am happy to share our surroundings with such adorable creatures .
