Graduation 2008

This is how the cake turned out , I am pretty happy with it , in the school colors, the school symbol lightening bolt.
There are four huge boxes or cupcakes and over 100 decor sticks with 2008 on them . They will look very nice when all displayed.
Not too many fridges could do this , amazing , although I cam having trouble with my freezer I still love it in general, it is just a bad door that I got. Nice big fridge.
I hope everyone enjoys their cake today. I know the kids will love them for sure.

I never learn my lesson

Look I found enormous boxes for my many many cupcakes, they are all done the cake is complete , I am so tired, that took 15 hours , poor husband was wrangled to make these little tags that I glued them onto skewers to add some flair, while watching Jon and Kate Plus 8 , see things could be much much more eventful.
I am retiring from baking for anything other than my kids and just pure fun. All done off to bed.zzzzzzzzzzz.......
I am back at it again but it is a paying job this time, so I suppose I did learn something. I am baking for 2008 graduation grade 8 and senior kindergarten, 200 cupcakes and a slab cake too, I forget just how much work is involved, I started at 8:00am and it is now 7:00 pm and I have finished the last of the baking, I now need to frost everything and make them look pretty as well try to figure out how to transfer them to the school, I could do the foil trays I suppose , but I don't like that so much.
It has taken 10 boxes of mix, 30 eggs 2 pounds of butter , lots of oil , confectioners sugar hundreds of cupcake papers and much sweat , this kitchen is warn today .
My review of my new oven is in , it rocks , really it is a pleasure to use.

Here is last years batch , this years will be much cuter.

I'd like to declare the kitchen done!

The whole is no more, I still need to touch up when things are completely dry but this is it, I was quoted $400.00 for an actual bland cupboard for this space above the fridge, a lot steep for a run of the mill cupboard , so I built this for $23.00 the pine shelving and trim cost that , the beadboard and other bits of trim I had lying around . Gosh I am good at saving dough. Before here
This is the basic box, I added 1/2" x 1" pine strapping around the edges, it adds stability to the box and weight to the look.
Nailed beadboard right on to the back.
More basic trim top and bottom.
Painted it and now I have the open display shelving I have always wanted.
I really say the kitchen updates are done, the island was built , the bulkhead upgraded with beadboard and crown moulding, cupboards painted , the sink and faucet installed , all new hardware, stools painted, lighting over island increased to two hanging pendants, the range hood, dishwasher panel, chalkboard, computer desk built in , new bamboo shades, new appliances, it is done. Ok it needs a fresh coat of paint , but all the hard little odd projects are complete.
I feel so relieved , five years of off and on projects have lead to my satisfaction , I love my kitchen, I wish I had a good before picture to show , it was ugly , brand new but ugly.
Cheers!
