My first attempt at fondant and my very first "for me" birthday cake , Oh my I am so happy about it .
We also celebrate the 18 th anniversary of the day my husband and I met , my hubby said I made the cake for my readers and my blog , no , it was nice to have some new content yes , but I was so happy taking these photos I was shaking , it was selfish I made this cake for me. thank you me .
I got a great card from my mom yesterday , it has a great message
"Don't sit around waiting for somebody else to make you happy.Happy is a do-it-yourself kind of thing"
This is also a great Valentine's message.

I am a long time reader but I don't think I have commented before but had to de-lurk to tell you how BEAUTIFUL your cake and card were! No one would have thought it was your first time if you did not say anything. Love it!!
That looks absolutely gorgeous! I can imagine it tasted great too. Happy Birthday :)
Wow ... what a great first!
Your cake is beautiful! Sometimes we have to do something for ourselves, and I agree that is such a great message too (and very timely for Valentine's day). If we don't love ourselves, who will?

absolutely beautiful cake!!!
Fantastic cake - I love the colour and the flowers. You get the cake you really want when you make if for yourself.
I found your blog through my Google Reader recommendations and I wish I had seen this sooner! Today (2/8) is my birthday! I would have loved a cake like this! Instead, I had chocolate with chocolate frosting. Still yummy...:) Happy birthday to you and enjoy your cake!
Happy Birthday?
I am always making things for my blog and readers! That makes me happy! Thanks for the beautiful cake... to feast my eyes on... You did a wonderful job and have inspired me!

Love the cake! I also really enjoyed your post about how to make cakes. I recently just started making cakes from scratch. I posted an easy banana cake recipe on my blog that is yummy. One thing I was having a problem with was frosting the cake and avoiding crumbs. After reading your post about a crumb frosting and then refrigerating it before putting on the final frosting layer was a great tip! Thanks so much!
Simply beautiful!!!! I have to say raspberry lemon would have been my choice too:)
Valerie
Raspberry lemon - YUM!! Hope your birthday and the cake were divine!
