The smell of freshly baked cookies

I realized I had not baked a thing in months , it was time to make the family some fresh cookies , what could be better than chocolate chip .

I made a double batch .
This H1N1 flue is really giving me cause for concern , apparently the next street over has at least 6 kid down with this virus , it hard not to panic , I know some who have had it , and have done fine , but it is hard not to worry when they are reporting deaths left and right , it is terrible and heartbreaking to hear of kids dying especially .
So I hope you are well and keep well .
Chris

My daughter just got over it and it wasn't that bad. She just had a cough and ran a fever for about 4 days. My doctor said that kids in my area where handling it well (I live in the south). Just keep washing your hands!

Those cookies look yummy!
A close friend of mine just got over the h1n1 and it was pretty mild. Don't let it get you down!

I have heard of family friends that have had it and done fine but then I've heard of the deaths as well and I'm just as worried. Hand washing, that's what we've been doing left and right.

My kids are just getting over it - two of them had fever/cough for a few days and one is going on a week of coughing but no more fever. People are dying of the secondary infection not the actual flu so IF your kids get it their dr. should prescribe an antibiotic to ward off pneumonia, etc and they should be fine. : ) It is scary but I think the media is making it worse than it actually is...

Nothing better than homemade cookies.
My 4 kids had it, and
5 of my neices and nephews .
Everyone was ok.
Good Luck.
Don't panic.

I tried for years to bake the perfect batch of chocolate chip cookies---my husband's favorite---but I never could get it just right. They always turned out too cakey, and not soft and chewy, so now I just buy the dough and make them that way---and sweet hubby is happy now! Yours look delicious!

Try not to worry too much about the flu. We've had it, and survived!

Our 5 year old had it and she was over it in 3 days. The key is to NOT let them go out and play right after they "seem" better. Lot's of relapsed kids in our neck of the woods. We kept our little one home for 7 full days. No school, no play just to be safe.

Mmmmmm...those cookies look and smell (wishful thinking) good. I think I will have to bake tonight.

I agree with those who say do not panic about H1N1. All flu has the potential of causing problems...and, yes, deaths. But most who get this flu recover. We did lose one friend, but he denied being sick and did not seek medical help. It was not the flu, but the complications of pneumonia that caused his death. He was not in the best of health to begin with. Most of the kids and adults in our neighborhood have already experienced H1N1...and they all recovered well. As others have written...fever, cough, some with digestive problems, but all recovered and are doing fine! Do not panic!!! Wash your hand, get plenty of rest, and enjoy life!

My son just recovered from it. He was put on Tamiflu and it seemed to make a huge difference. I received the vaccine a couple nights ago. It is a very scary time..it's hard not to be scared.

I love the jar your cookies are in!

Just curious how readily available the vaccine is in Canada. The U.S is getting in batches because the demand is high and it's taking longer to make the vaccine than first thought. Is it fairly available in your area?

I made some last night and ate too many! I figured I could fatten up my underweight child, very nervous about this flu stuff.

I agree with someone who said that the media is making it scarier than needs to be. The fact is 36,000 people die annually from the regular flu...and since the swine flu came about, just around 1,000 have died. It is just a different strain of flu and like someone else said, they aren't dying from the flue itself...but problems that arise while infected with it. Healthy people that take proper precuations and treamtment should survive! :)

Advise please ladies. How do you know if your children actually had H1N1? 2 of my 4 have been ill in the past 2 weeks. Each with high fever, achy body and really feeling awful. But, no cough or cold symptoms. Both lasted about 4 days. I did not take them to the doctors so how do I know? If the did have it aren't they immune now unless the virus mutates? I am so confused as to get the vaccine or not. I have kids 4, 5, 9 and 11.Any advise?
